Zoomed in a bit on WaterfallHill.

  • Site map plotted on a satellite photo in ExpertGPS. The goal is to extend the house LAN and T1 internet connection to the pond area, shop building, pump house and detached garage. Plan A is to set up a Ubiquiti Point-to-Multipoint system on 5 GHz to establish the 3 links shown in turquoise, and a super-short link to the detached garage which is along the line to WaterfallHill. Note that the antenna symbol to the upper-left of Base would be another possible end point, as it would be the ideal spot for bringing the network into the guest quarters that is above the detached garage (but this is not essential, it can be hard-wired from the garage). The total azimuth span for the 3 links shown in turquoise is 80 degrees, and the distances from the Base radio are as follows: WaterfallHill 292 feet, ShopBuilding 323 feet, PumpHouse 91 feet, garage 35 feet.
  • A complicating factor is that we have tall conifers in the path of the links to WaterfallHill and ShopBuilding. We keep them limbed up at least 10-15 feet, so plan A is to locate the base radio at about 7-8 feet above the ground (mounted on one of the 8x8 posts that support the covered walkway to the garage) and shoot the 5 GHz signal UNDER the conifer foliage and between the tree trunks. This photo is looking from the planned mounting position of the Base radio, and out to WaterallHill, which is the sunlit rock feature on the other side of the pond, slightly left of center in this photo.
