Hunter Strickland (of SF Giants playoffs and World Series fame) on the mound for the River Cats. He pitched the 8th and the 9th innings. He gave up one run but hung on for the save. The one run wasn't a homer, I guess he only gets shelled for those when he pitches in the majors. Hunter is on the Giants' 40-man roster, so he'll be up in the majors again in September when the rosters expand, or earlier if the Giants need him. He throws HARD.

• Hello from Aces Ballpark in Reno. I'm wearing my new Aces cap that I bought on the way in. I thought about wearing my Giants cap and shirt since I was pulling for the River Cats, but I didn't want to get harassed once the fans got drunk. There were actually a lot of Giants fans in the stands so I probably should have.
Tamar is wearing her Benelli cap that she got to go with her Benelli shotgun. Don't mess with Tamar.
• We had front row field-level seats for the game, between home plate and the Aces dugout on the third base side, maybe 1/3 of the way from home plate to their dugout. A food services guy (like a waiter) would come take our orders for food, so we didn't even have to leave our seats. This area also has its own bathrooms just a short walk down a tunnel behind Tamar.
The lady closest to the netting (in jeans) sung the National Anthem.
• Pregame preparations. The Aces dugout is beyond the last seats that you see. The blue things sticking out from the cinder block wall are drink holders. I was driving, so I drank Coke while Tamar had a couple of Coors Lights. Coke tastes a lot better than that swill, trust me...
• Even during the game, the stadium wasn't very crowded on this Tuesday evening.
• My footrest. The cable and turnbuckle were kind of annoying as it partially obstructed my view. I switched seats with Tamar in about the 8th inning, and I liked her view better.
• An ace at the plate and another one taking their lead from first base.
• Another Ace at the plate. The netting made it hard to take photos because my camera's auto focus would often lock onto the net instead of what was behind it. Note to self: learn how to put camera into manual focus mode.
• Looking toward the scoreboard out in left field. If a ball was hit that way, it was tough to follow it because you're looking more along the netting rather than straight through it. The next time we go to a game, I think we'll try the normal seats that are past the netting on either side.
• There was no on deck circle, and when the Aces were at bat, their on-deck guy would stand right in front of us, usually blocking my view of the pitcher. If you're into being about 8 feet from a baseball player, that's neat, but I thought it was annoying to have him block the view.
