My SOTAWatch spots. I accidentally left my iPhone down in the ATV, so I couldn't see any spots while on the summit. It looks like I may have missed a summit-to-summit opportunity with Frank K0JQZ up in Wyoming (on his honeymoon, I believe). He was apparently just 1 kHz up the band from me. When I heard that our watering hole frequency 14.061 MHz was clear, rather than tuning around I ASSumed I was the only activator on the band at that time or else the frequency would already be in use. Dohhhh!

  • My spots from Reverse Beacon Network. I called CQ for about 10 minutes on 15m but received no responses. The band clearly wasn't in good shape: only one skimmer heard me, and I couldn't hear any other signals when I tuned around. 12m was dead as a doornail so I didn't bother to call CQ there.

  • Logbook page (card) 4. I made 32 QSOs total, all on CW, but no summit-to-summit or DX QSOs this time around. Still, not bad for the Tuesday after one of the busiest SOTA weekends of the year. Thanks to everyone who gave me a call!
  • Solar-terrestrial data that I screen-captured shortly after getting home. There had been a geomagnetic storm the evening before with the K up to 3, but this morning the noise was way down with the K only 1. I believe that the solar flux index (SFI) of 104 is lower than on any of my other activations this year, so that helps to explain why 12 and 15m weren't open. Those bands should be better later in the afternoon when I made this screen capture, but it shows that the Boulder, CO MUF was only 19.53 MHz even then.
