Babbitt Peak (W6/NS-132) SOTA Activation 8/5/2012
Read MoreLogbook page 2. After working Elliott K6ILM with a booming signal from San Francisco on 40m, and CQ-ing several more times with no response, I decided to call it quits, turned off the radio, and began to organize my things. After about 20-30 seconds it dawned on me that I hadn't noticed what my battery pack's voltage was (it is displayed by the HB-1B and I like to make a mental note of it so that I know whether or not to recharge my battery pack when I get home). I turned the radio back on and there was a strong signal on frequency (Rex W6VJJ in Half Moon Bay as it turned out) asking what SOTA meant. I explained what it was, we had a nice ragchew (he is blind by the way), and the QSO was only cut short because the clouds were building rapidly and I felt I needed to get down off the mountain before they started throwing lightning bolts my way. Hopefully Rex will chase us in the future.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by my frequency to work me!
Thank
