Even with the terrain bump, my antenna should outperform a higher dipole over flat ground, but not by as much.

  • Even with the terrain bump, my antenna should outperform a higher dipole over flat ground, but not by as much.
  • A plot for my low (25-ft high) 40m dipole at a heading of 75 degrees. It's a crap shoot as to whether or not it outperforms a 40m dipole up 66 feet (half wavelength).
  • A plot for my low (25-ft high) 40m dipole at a heading of 90 degrees. At low takeoff angles it should outperform the higher dipole over flat ground, but at the higher takeoff angles we are typically using on 40m the higher dipole over flat ground has me beat.
  • At 115 degrees, the higher 40m dipole again has the advantage over mine that is up a measly 25 feet.
